Here, you will find an ever-changing permanent waterhole with an abundance of wildlife, birdlife, and aquatic macro-invertebrates. Relax and admire the changing colours of the cliff and various rock formations. For those seeking a deeper connection with nature, Mayo Gorge offers a tranquil escape.
Enjoy a Wood Fired Pizza
Join us at the Mount Little Tavern & Pizza Bar every Wednesday and Saturday from April to November, and on long weekends and school holidays, enjoy an extra night on Sunday with live music. Open from 5pm to 8pm, it’s a perfect evening spot. BYO drinks, and please check with us upon arrival as times may vary.
Feed the Farm Animals
Children can participate in the daily animal feeding at Mount Little Station, where they can interact with two camels, six donkeys, hand-fed calves and sheep, chickens, and ducks. This hands-on activity is perfect for families, offering an engaging and educational experience.
Find the Pirate Treasure
Follow the ‘Treasure Map’ in your Welcome Pack to the Pirate Cave, a short 40-minute walk up the creek, and search for hidden treasure. Beware of the bees that may be guarding the area. This adventure adds an exciting twist to your stay, perfect for treasure hunters of all ages.

Uncover Bygone Settler History
Explore the settler ruins scattered across Mount Little Station. Twelve historical sites feature remains of dwellings, wells, garden beds, stables, cellars, and farming machinery. These ruins offer a glimpse into the challenging conditions faced by early settlers after WWI, when land was divided for soldier settlements.
Witness Shearing on a Real Sheep Station
For two weeks in October, it’s shearing time at Mount Little Station. Experience life on a real sheep station, take a tour of the shearing shed, watch the shearers in action, and learn about the history of this essential practice. This unique opportunity provides a fascinating insight into the hard work and tradition of sheep farming.
Discover Native Flora & Fauna
Admire the diverse native flora and fauna at Mount Little Station. In the camping area, spot Euros, rock wallabies, and echidnas. On the flats, see emus, red and grey kangaroos. Overhead, watch wedge-tailed eagles soaring, while galahs, cockatoos, wrens, and parrots populate the creek beds. Keep an eye out for goannas, lizards, and snakes on the ground.
Shop & Museum
Visit the Mount Little Station Shop or explore Roy’s Museum, showcasing the family history of Roy Stone, who lived here until his 90s and passed away in 2019. The honesty shop offers local products, essentials, and handcrafted goods. While there, take a peek inside the museum in the old shearing shed, view farm machinery from the 1800s, and visit the ruins of the original homestead.

Mount Little Station isn’t just for the big kids. We have plenty of children’s activities! Enjoy a Car Rally that Supports the RFDS
Get a group together and enjoy a tag-along tour, or add a bit more adventure and talk to us about organising a fun car rally. Proceeds from the car rally go to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, combining excitement with a good cause.
Go Fishing

Cycle the Mawson Trail
Bike the Mawson Trail through Mount Little Station, covering approximately 16 kilometres of the 900km trail. Designed for mountain or sturdy touring bikes, the trail features steep uphill sections and challenging conditions during heavy rain. Despite the difficulty, riders are rewarded with spectacular views, abundant wildlife, unique flora, and extensive vistas.
Walk the Heysen Trail
Hiking the Heysen Trail offers a journey through some of South Australia’s most diverse and breathtaking landscapes. While the trail does not run through Mount Little Station, we serve as a convenient drop-off and pick-up point. Why not stay the night in one of our dongas for a relaxing break? Enjoy comfort and convenience before or after your hike on the 1,200-kilometre trail.
